I had heard a lot of really good things about this book, so I checked it out from the library to see what all the hype was about. It was kind of a fun little book to look through; to see if the food we eat was on the “good side” or the “bad side”. Liam really took to this book and had a fun time with it. I just hope that people don’t use it as the Bible of what they should be eating. I found the book to be very inconsistent with what made something good or bad. For example, it condemned one type of cereal bar because it had HFCS in it, but gave good marks to another brand of cereal bar that also has HFCS in it. One of the Kashi cereals made the “bad side” because of the amount of sugar in it. We happened to have it in our pantry and I compared it to the other kind of Kashi which made the “good side” which we also have in our pantry and there was only a 2 gram difference in the amount of sugar and it was still a very small amount of sugar compared to most cereals. My take on the book was that it was kind of interesting, but certainly not the gospel of what we should and should not be eating.
