I first saw this book at the Johnson County Museum and was intrigued, not intrigued enough to buy it, but definitely intrigued enough to check it out from the library. This is a book for you if you have ever: watched too much HGTV, built a house, renovated a house, spent too much time at Lowe’s/Home Depot, wanted granite countertops even though the countertops you have are totally fine, been a real estate agent or toured model homes not because you were going to buy one, but because you were being a looky-loo.

We lucked out and picked a beautiful day to go apple picking.

There were SO MANY apples…the trees were just sagging.

Notice how Liam feeds the chickens…notice the distance between him and the chicken…

….and here’s Colm who has the chickens eating out of his hand.

It’s probably been at least three years since we have been apple picking as a family. The place we used to go to is no longer an apple orchard, so I had to find someplace new. There is an apple orchard that is MUCH closer to our house, but every time I check their picking status it says they are picked out. Colm went to Alldredge Apple Orchard last year for a field trip, so even though it’s a little ways away, I knew what to expect and was certain it was worth the drive.

This is what we ate AFTER we had dinner.

Sean went to Take-Your-Parent-to-Tae-Kwon-Do class this week. He is such a good sport.

Liam also received his purple belt while he was there.

He still needs to “refine” his cello song a little bit, but he loves it so I guess that matters more than anything.

We have this book at home somewhere, but Colm found it at the library and decided he needed to get it since he just lost a tooth and then lost it, just like the boy in the story. It is a cute little story and anyone who has recently lost a tooth or is getting close to losing a tooth will enjoy it.

Note: There are two incidences of name calling in the book that aren’t really necessary and do take away from the story. I just don’t read those parts when we get to them…we just skip right over them and no one is the wiser.
