If you haven’t given Colm any of your spare change lately then you are among the few. I don’t know what it is about him, but people love to give him change. He doesn’t ask them for their change or throw a tantrum or anything, they just give it to him. For example, today he wanted a lollipop while Liam was in tae kwon do. He had all my change lined up on the table and after he counted it I told him there wasn’t enough there. So he counted again to make sure. This man who we don’t know at all comes over and tells Colm he needs to count his money again. Lo and behold, there is more money there than there was before.

Yesterday at tae kwon do Colm was again digging through my purse for change. It turned out I did have enough, but while he was looking a nice mom dug through her purse and gave him the money he needed.

What is it? Is it the red hair? Is it his determination to get a lollipop? Is it his winning smile? I don’t know what it is, but I hope it translates into financial success when he gets older.

Again, Colm has picked out a random book off the library shelves and it is super cute. It is called Superhero School. (Just the title alone is enough to make a kid want to pick it up and check it out.) It is about a boy whose mom sends him to superhero school with all the other kids who have superhero powers. Superhero school is not as exciting as the main character had hoped for, but things soon turn around when their teachers get kidnapped.

Colm got his real cello on Tuesday and he was beside himself. He is so ready to make some music!

Making sure it is the right size.

Liam was supposed to be a wiseman, but got demoted to a donkey when some older kids decided they wanted to be in the Christmas program. He was a very good sport about it. 🙂

Colm’s turn to sing

I picked up this book off the recommended shelf at the library. It wasn’t for book club, just something for me to read in between book club books. It’s the story of a boy at a boarding school, his masters, his roommate and classmates. It’s a pretty quick read and I liked the story except when you get towards the end the story takes a totally different direction which I am not sure I liked. I understand that the author took that direction to explain something that that happened earlier in the story, but it just didn’t seem to fit. I do recommend it though.

About once every four or five years I decide that I should try wearing makeup. I don’t know why, but I do. So a couple of weeks ago I got a wild hare and decided to go buy some. I put it on and remembered why I don’t wear makeup. (Besides the sticker shock.) I look horrible in makeup. I don’t own any mascara, eye liner, eyeshadow, etc. and the makeup I recently bought was in the trash within five minutes of me bringing it home. I do, however, own some tinted lip gloss and a tube of lipstick and whenever I put either one of them on the boys know mama’s going somewhere fancy. 🙂

Officially a blue belt

So, I was put in charge of picking our book this past month and after careful research and after reading reviews on both Amazon and the library, I chose this book. Don’t read it. It is awful. Everyone in my book club, including me, found it to be crass and offensive. I don’t know how this man has managed to have five plus books published, but he has. Hopefully our next pick will be better.
