It would be SO easy to toss all of the crap we don’t want to move into the trash. I refuse to fill up the landfill with all of our junk. So, our recycling bin runneth over. It’s amazing how much you can recycle. It is also amazing how much stuff your friends and neighbors will come and get off of your porch when you post it on Facebook. We got rid of thirty-plus plastic bins that way. I also gave away a lots of misc. baby stuff to friends. The amount of stuff that got donated to Catholic Charities and The Salvation Army is amazingly huge. Then there is the stuff that the 1-800 Junk guys came to get. Stuff that we either can’t donate, can’t recycle or don’t have the time to mess with. Did we toss stuff in the landfill this week? You bet we did, but we also kept an amazing amount of stuff out of the landfill.

Bonding together as a family, new places to explore, great day trips, new hobbies, the ocean, new friends, new restaurants, much more eco-friendly city, a larger variety of restaurants due to much more diverse city population, kinder weather, escaping JOCO and all of the materialishness that comes with it…who knows what else awaits us…

Besides the obvious family and friends…our church…I have cried big, fat baby tears the last three weekends knowing that we are never going to find a church like that again. We went to a church while we were house hunting…not the same. What else…Spin Pizza, Shatto Milk, knowing where everything is, the boys’ school (stayed tuned for more tears on their last day of school), the boys’ strings instructor, Liam’s TKD school (awesome place), all of the fun things the boys do in the summer that they can’t do there, our big backyard (there is no such thing as a big backyard there), Reading Reptile, custard, my job (already cried about that), knowing people who I trust with my kids that would watch them in a heartbeat if I needed them to…I am sure there is more. That is all I can think of for now. Now to focus on the positive…

No worries, I am still snapping photos, but with all of our belongings in limbo right now, it is going to be a while before I get caught up probably. I might have some time today if I can find all of the necessary electronics, wires, etc.

We got this book as a going away gift from a friend from Ascension. Colm was so excited to read it. It is a fantastic book, especially if you are already in love with Alexander from his previous books. It was such a thoughtful and perfect book, but I had THE hardest time reading it to Colm without crying. Lots of deep breathing and thoughtful pauses. I can’t let him hear my voice crack…this is an adventure. Right? RIGHT?

Since we won’t be here for Liam’s birthday we are going to have an early birthday party for him this weekend with family. His nanny (grandma) let him pick the theme of his party that we are having at her house and he settled on Star Wars.

It is going to take a lot of lists to get us through this move. This is my to do list for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It seems to get longer no matter how many items I cross off.

While Sean and I were gone house hunting, the boys stayed at Camp Grandparents where they learned how to play Monopoly. It is now Colm’s absolute favorite game to play after school.

Sean playing on his iPhone, trying to entertain himself, on the flight home. It’s good to be home, by the way.

My friend Christie and I ventured out to the city while Sean was at his first day of work. Sprinkled throughout the downtown are various groupings of these trailers where you can pick from just about every ethnic food you can think of….Mexican, Indian, Polish, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc., etc., etc. I settled on some vegetarian Vietnamese soup while Christie opted for Mexican. It’s like the food court at the mall-only better. 🙂

This picture doesn’t capture how many there were. There was also another whole group of these trailers across the street from where we ate. We didn’t even go over there…that would have been too much to choose from.
