Running down the hill… Colm fell several times just because it was so steep.

There are at least three reservoirs around Mt. Tabor that hold part of the city’s drinking water.

(Project 365-2/27/10) Colm got hurt on this ride. He fell off but held on and got dragged. He is fine, but he got quite a scrape on his side/stomach.

Big Old Tree

We FINALLY found Liam a violin teacher. Liam was very excited to get back in the saddle. When we went to go get his new violin they laid out several instruments for him to play in his own little room so he could play them and decide which one he wanted. I am not sure he chose his violin based on which one had the best sound. I think he picked the one that he liked the looks of the best. 🙂

The day after he got his violin his teacher had a workshop for all of her students. She invited a Suzuki teacher from San Francisco in to work with her students for the morning. We haven’t actually had a lesson with his teacher yet, but she was nice enough to let us come to the workshop. He starts with his new teacher this week.

The boys had Crazy Hair Day at school so I went and got some little packets of blue, green and red hair gel. Liam wanted stripes and Colm wanted spikes. The results…

Colm has his basketball medal in this picture. His basketball coach from KS was VERY nice and sent it to us. Colm had someone ask him if it was his gold medal and he just BEAMED!!! (Project 365-2/26/10)

I don’t think my cooking has set off smoke detectors since I lived in an apartment in Phoenix many moons ago. I did manage to set them off this week, however, setting the boys and Sean into a temporary panic. I didn’t burn anything, it’s just that in apartments if there is any smoke at all the darn things go off. At least we know they work.

If it wasn’t for my GPS I would have had a nervous breakdown by now or at least had a few good crying jags. There have been a few times in the past week or so when it wasn’t working like it was supposed to and I did nearly have a panic attack. Seriously. It’s scary being somewhere and realizing that you have no earthly idea how to get home.

If you have ever watched Colm watch a sporting event, watch something exciting on TV or watched him watch somebody else play a video game you have seen him nearly take off like a bird with all of the jumping and flapping he does. He loves the Olympics…can you tell?

Colm has discovered that he can reach the toaster, the bread and the Nutella. It is now his snack/dessert of choice.

Colm: Liam, my girlfriend’s name is Samantha…she is beautiful. *

Me: What does she look like?

Colm: Mom, do you really think I remember what she looks like?

Me: Is she nice?

Colm: I don’t know. I’ve never talked to her before.

Me: How is she your girlfriend if you’ve never talked to her?

Colm: Mom, I’ve seen her like a thousand times. (Note: we have only lived here three weeks.)

Colm: Liam, trust me, you should marry her.

Liam: (In disgusted that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard tone) I don’t want to marry her.

Colm. Then I’ll marry her.

*We have had A LOT of girlfriend talk around here ever since we went to go get Liam’s pictures taken for his birthday and the gal who was taking the pictures was teasing Liam about his girlfriend in an attempt to get him to smile. Thanks photographer lady, much appreciated. Grrr…

This book was selected by my book club in Kansas, but with the move and everything I didn’t have time to read it. One of my very nice and generous book club friends let me have her copy since she was done with it so I could read it when I got the chance. I like this book, but it’s not the kind of book you just can’t put down. It was, however, very interesting to learn about her life.
