Liam decided he wanted to go sit out on the back porch and sketch the scenery. I figured he was out there drawing a beautiful mountain scene with the trees and the sun setting. He came back inside with a picture of a house with a satellite dish.

The weather has been so weird here the past few days. It has pretty much rained non-stop and when it’s not raining it’s hailing these tiny little pebbles and then the sun will come out and then we’ll start all over again.

I was cooking dinner, looked out the window over the kitchen sink and this is what I saw:

The first day both of the boys road the bus to and from school. Liam was a little nervous and Colm was super excited. Go figure. 🙂

Alice is a highly-repected professor at Harvard as is her husband. She travels all over the world giving talks, teaching classes and mentoring colleagues. Lately though she has noticed that she keeps forgetting things. Nothing major, but still. She realizes something is really wrong though when she gets lost in her own neighborhood one day while out running. A trip to the doctor confirms her greatest fear. Now she just has to tell her husband, family and colleagues.

There were so many empty boxes in the entryway, that at one point, you had to walk through the dining room to get to the front door. I made a dent in that pile today by taking a trip to the big recycling bin at our apartment complex.

Colm turned six today!!! We also moved today so it wasn’t a very exciting day for him, but once the movers were gone, we had a fun evening!

He also wanted ice cream (not cake) for his birthday, so we had an ice cream buffet.

We went to a great event at the boys’ school tonight. It was a science fair for the older kids and a science exhibition/demonstration/open house for everyone else. Colm’s class is growing lima beans, exploring the water cycle and learning about oviparous animals. Liam’s class is learning about insects and weather.

The boys checking out Liam’s meal worms. Each child has two meals worms they are taking care of. One of Liam’s had shed its skin…very cool.
