Is it a big deal that I baked cookies this week? Yes! I have not baked anything since before Christmas. When we were getting ready to move I didn’t exactly have time to bake and then once we did move all of my mixing bowls and pretty much everything else I needed to bake was in storage. Now that I have my measuring spoons, mixing bowls and cookie sheets I can finally bake again. I made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies…one of my favorites.

One of Colm’s homework assignments for this month was to draw a picture of something you like to do at school. Colm drew a picture of himself playing basketball. What I love about this picture is that he drew clouds over the sun because he hates playing basketball when it’s too sunny because the sun gets in his eyes when he is trying to shoot a basket.
Today I got to go to a volunteer luncheon at the boys’ school. It was a bit overwhelming since there were a ton of people there and I didn’t really know anyone, but I went anyway since Liam was going to be singing as part of our entertainment and he was very excited about the song the music teacher had taught them. (It was a very cute song, by the way.) The food was great and the second graders did a fantastic job singing. I even managed to find someone I knew to eat with.
I am WAY behind with my scrapbooking. The last thing in the boys’ books is from our trip to the zoo the day after Halloween. Granted, I have been a teeny weeny bit busy lately and all of my scrapbooks were locked up in storage for three months, so I have a pretty good excuse. Last night I ordered all of the things I needed to get started back up again including new albums for the boys (they get one for each year of their life and they have both had a birthday since we moved), page protectors and adhesive. I also ordered scattles of pictures. My scrapbooking closet is ready and as soon as all of my supplies get here, I will be ready to go…
Liam came home today and told me that he thought he had accidentally thrown his lunch sack away. What?! How do you accidentally throw a lunch sack away? Is it a huge deal? No, I suppose not, but I just recently bought him some reusable cloth sandwich/snack bags for his lunch and there were three of them in his lunch bag that day. Those are not cheap. Oh, and he also has a reusable Sigg. Not cheap. So, is it a big deal that he lost/threw away/can’t find his lunch sack? No, but it’s an expensive deal and he better find it tomorrow or it’s going to turn into a big deal. 🙂
*** Update: The lunch sack was found and all is well.
We went for a hike today in Forest Park. We had been there once before when we first moved here and since the weather was so beautiful today we decided to head out there again, but this time we took our dog, too. I didn’t take my camera this time because I just wanted to enjoy the hike, but the boys found a lot of “interesting” things and I had the camera on my phone so….
This guy was pretty darn big.
The boys found a lot of these. Colm is learning about butterflies at school so he was certain that they were caterpillars.
(Project 365-5/16/2010)
This one kind of creeped me out a little bit. I had Colm stand next to him so you could see how big he was. Colm wears a Size 3 shoe. (Yes, I know, he has big feet.)
Some pretty flowers to make up for all of the other pictures.
The boys were fascinated with the mushrooms growing on this tree; it was covered with them.
These were the pictures I agreed to take. I did not take any pictures of all the dead rodents in various stages of decay that we found along the path. You can thank me later. 🙂
Baseball games are LONG and the poor siblings that are dragged to all of these games have to figure out what to do to pass the time. Sean got Liam this frisbee/boomerang thing. He LOVES it. It took him a while to figure it out, but once he did he was a having a blast.
P.S. This is the first picture taken with my new camera once I got a mini-lesson about how to use it from an acquaintance. Sean actually took this picture though.
