Our strawberry picking outing turned into a strawberry/blackberry/blueberry picking outing.

(Project 365-7/14/10)

There were TONS of blueberries and blackberries. We got a lot, but could have gotten so much more.

They had quite a few animals on the farm including this cat that Colm loved so much he kissed.

There were chickens, geese, ducks and turkeys wandering all over the property. At one point we were picking berries and a goose and her gosling were wandering through the blueberry bushes. It was pretty cute.

This was basically a farm where you could come and pick some of their fruit/veggies if you wanted to. There were no signs telling us where things were and no one greeted us or gave us any sort of tour and this was a BIG farm; they grow over fifteen crops. The boys had a good time though. Since this is a working farm, we got to go and see the pigs and chickens and we happened to be there during feeding time. Have you ever heard thirty pigs eating at the same time? It sends chills up my back just to think about it. It’s not pretty. You can’t imagine the cobwebs in the barn either. Those cobwebs have been there for generations and they were THICK and dusty and hanging down like stalagtites from the ceiling. I was definitely out of my comfort zone and had to get OUT of that barn. I don’t care how many cute little baby piglets there were, it smelled, it was dark, all of those pigs were eating and there were cobwebs EVERYWHERE! We did get to meet and chat with the farmer though, so that was nice.
