Colm getting six stitches in his head after having a run-in with a tree.

Colm won these for getting 2nd place in his Tae Kwon Do school’s board breaking contest that benefited our local schools. (Thank you to the grandparents who were his biggest contributors.)

We started off the day with a brunch and present opening since Sean’s parents were going to have to head to the airport right after Mass.

We had a great day and we are all so proud of Liam.

Since we had family in town, we had to do at least one touristy thing, so we headed to Pittock Mansion. We hadn’t been there before, but it had been on my to do list and I thought the grandparents might like it, too. We went on a nice walk around the grounds and admired all of the beautiful flowers and such. Then we went inside and were lucky enough to be able to go on a tour led by a volunteer. It was so interesting to hear about how the family had lived and I was so impressed with all of the modern amenities they had for that time period.

My mom used to drag me to the fabric store ALL THE TIME when I was little. I would run my fingers through the fabrics and feel how soft they felt against my cheeks and then we would sit down and look at all the pattern catalogs. This trip to the fabric store felt a lot less painful than they did 30 years ago. 😉

These little beauties have taken up residence in the field across from our house. I think I might name them. Any suggestions?

I really like doing crafts and activities with kids, it’s the prep work I don’t like. I was asked to get a couple of activities ready for this weekend’s retreat for the children receiving first communion on Sunday. I am so glad there are only 37 kids and not 137 kids…prep work is SO tedious.

We did a lot of things on Mother’s Day, one of which was to go to the Nike Employee Store. We got a pass from a family friend we know who works there and let’s just say that Sean was like a kid in a candy store with all of the running gear (and everything else) priced at 50% off retail.

We also planted our garden on Mother’s Day, but I don’t have any pictures of that because it was POURING down rain. Did I mention that it was also hailing about ten minutes before we headed out? Also, a lesson I learned that day…it is incredibly hard to plant carrot seeds when it’s raining. Those seeds are teeny teeny tiny and they stick to little wet hands.
