We have had this fire pit for probably 2 1/2 years and tonight was the first time we have ever used it. Sad. I know. It took us 1 1/2 years to actually get around to putting it together and then it just sat on our back porch for a year. Oh, the boys were SO excited when they realized that I had bought everything we needed to make s’mores…from the sticks to put the marshmallows on, to the firewood, to the marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers. I think Colm’s favorite part of the evening, however, was when I let him throw water on the fire when we were all done. Steam is super exciting. 🙂

Ha! Gotcha! Not really…well, sort of, for one night. Last night our neighbors called us at about 9:30 because there was a cat outside that they thought was ours. It wasn’t. The boys were bound and determined to help the poor thing, so Liam ran back to our house and got a can of cat food and our cat carrier. The cat was more than happy to eat the food, but was not about to get in that carrier. A nice lady passing by on the sidewalk was brave enough to grab the cat and put him in the carrier.

We kept him overnight and then took him to the vet this morning to see if he had a chip. He did, but the phone number attached to the chip wasn’t working. They also had the address of the owner though, so they were going to try and contact them that way. In the meantime, Colm and I made some fliers to post around the neighborhood hoping to reunite the cat and its people. I hope she finds her way home. I am sure her people miss her.

A GORGEOUS day, sitting by the pool eating kettle corn. Life doesn’t get much better.

Now that school is out, I have my household helpers back. (Actually they are better at making messes than cleaning them up, but Colm is all about cleaning the floors…mopping, vacuuming, sweeping…he is all over it.)

Sean is always saying how he wishes we had some chocolate chip cookies, so the boys and I thought that making him cookies would be a nice way to show him that we love him. I think the boys also thought that it would be a good idea because then there would be cookies to eat.
