Colm has been spending his mornings at golf camp this week. I am totally impressed with this camp. The teachers are SUPER professional, so good with the kids and HIGHLY organized. Colm is learning so much about golf and he loves it. (I know he loves it because he has to get up 45 minutes earlier than he does to get to school and he is my kid who loves to sleep.) Today was the first day that they got to go out on the course. Again, he loved it, but I had to giggle a little when he pulled all of these out of his pocket when we got in the car.
I can totally see him scouring the ground trying to find broken tees. He probably didn’t listen as well today once he figured out there were all these treasures laying around free for the taking. We’ll see if he brings more home tomorrow.

Last year our summer service project was to collect canned goods from our neighbors to donate to the local food pantry. This summer we are going to do that, but we are also volunteering at the local food pantry. The boys and I went today to help unload food and put it in the freezers/refrigerator.

Not only was I super proud of the boys for working so hard, I was also super proud because they got MANY, MANY compliments from the other adults that were there. 🙂
Colm’s teacher had stressed that she really wanted him to work on his fine motor skills over the summer. So, I got out the Play-Doh today for a little fine motor work today. That lasted for a while, but Colm decided to turn it into something much more entertaining. He took the empty Play-Doh containers and a few plastic cups. He then took a Sharpie and wrote different point values on the outside of each cup and then lined them up. Next, he took a ball of Play-Doh and the goal was to get the Play-Doh in the cup by throwing it and then you’d get whatever number of points were on the cup it had landed in. This was not an easy game. We either kept knocking over the cups with the Play-Doh or the Play-Doh would bounce out of the cup. There were some modifications that needed to be made to the game to get it to actually work, but Colm had a great time with it.
You have served me well over the past nine months or so and you really are the perfect shoe (when it’s not raining or totally cold) but I think our time together is coming to an end. You are starting to get a little hole and pretty soon my toe is going to be peeking through, which means I am going to have to replace you. No worries. I may get a different color, but they will still be a pair of Toms because there is a child somewhere running around without any shoes on and when I buy my next pair of Toms, that kiddo will also get a pair of shoes. I heart Toms.
