Built to help defend the mouth of the Columbia River. Some parts of the fort were built during the Civil War. It was used up through WWII. It was fired on by Japanese submarines during WWII.

We loved our cabin, especially since it rained both nights we were there.

Liam’s soccer coach from last season has organized a very informal soccer session each Tuesday night. Sometimes they just scrimmage, sometimes they do drills and scrimmage. It depends on how many people show up…one time there was close to 30 kids, tonight there were closer to 15. Liam has a great time. One, he likes soccer…A LOT and two, the coach’s son is one of Liam’s best friends.

Since it was 7-11, 7-11 was giving away free Slurpees all day. We weren’t going to go because I knew it would be a madhouse, but we happened to drive by and the boys were complaining about how hot they were (It was about 69 degrees, by the way.) so we stopped. It was crowded, but it went pretty quickly and Liam even managed to win an upgrade to a free medium-sized Slurpee and Colm won a free hot dog. Woohoo!

The boys’ newest obsession is Beyblade. They are essentially tops (the kind that spin) that have different features that make some spin better than others and they “battle” in their little cheapo plastic arena. I will say, however, it is pretty cool when they run into each other. Since they have metal sides they make this cool clinking sound. Anyways, the boys are currently obsessed with these and even though they just bought four new Beyblades last week, they now “need” two more. Start saving your dollars boys…

Colm had a birthday party to go to (again!) and it was at a place we’d never been to before. They bowled, ate cupcakes and cake and played video games. This is is the loot he got from his tickets. The noise he made eating that ring pop on the way home was enough to send me through the roof….slurp!
