I am the school’s go to person for Junior Great Books. I do all of the trainings, order new materials and help organize the volunteers. I am enjoying this job, but two things have irritated me this week. One, people who borrow materials and don’t return them for others to use. Two, people who say they need to be trained and then don’t show up at the specified time. (It happened TWICE this week.) Otherwise, I love it and it’s a great program.
After a morning filled with soccer games, we headed off to meet Christie and Kathy at the Pumpkin Regatta. Yes, those are pumpkins…really, really big pumpkins that people get in and race…in their Halloween costumes. There was Captain America, a chef, Sasquatch and many others. Also, different organizations compete against one another. I think this picture is the local firefighters versus some other group. Sorry, I wasn’t really paying attention, I was too busy trying to distract Colm so I could eat some of his kettle corn while he wasn’t paying attention.
So I basically won the mom of the year award after our little outing today. The boys have been wanting to go to this place for a while and since we didn’t have school we invited some friends from school and off we went. It’s basically a place with four or five different “arenas” that are made out of trampolines. One is just for jumping, one is for jumping and diving into huge pits of foam and another one is just for dodgeball. (I don’t know what the other ones are for…we never made it that far.) The boys played HARD for an hour or so and were hot and sweaty by the end. Liam and his friends played dodgeball all that time and Colm and his friend (and all of the younger siblings of Liam’s friends) jumped and jumped and jumped some more. They both want to have their birthday parties here now.
