I love it when these show up in the grocery store each year. They make great snacks and are so easy to peel.
There is a group in our area that takes leftover food from school lunches and takes it to places that feed the hungry. They use volunteers (like me) to go pick up the food who then deliver the food to the food pantries. I volunteered to be that person today. I went to four different schools and then delivered the food to the pantry. It was interesting since it very much a hodge podge of different things. I had one box that had some leftover chili dogs. Another box full of salads, apples and milk. Another big container full of mashed potatoes and maybe some hamburgers were in another box. I am glad it’s not going to waste and am looking forward to helping again next month.
