When you sign your child up for a sport nowadays, parents usually have to sign something that says you won’t be a jerk at your child’s game (ie yelling at the ref, etc.) or you have to go to a meeting about how to be a good spectator. I know there have been instances where parents have gotten out of control or not acted the way they should, but I have seen nothing but good behavior from coaches and parents for the past three years until yesterday. Holy cow!!! I kept my mouth shut, but a few other parents didn’t and I totally understand why. The other team was cheating at soccer and when it was pointed out to the coach repeatedly he kept letting his players do it. He finally responded to someone who was letting him know how they felt about it and he told them to chill out because we were winning so who cares. Really? So it’s okay to cheat if you’re losing??? I didn’t know that. And we only won by one or two goals, so it wasn’t like they were getting creamed. I just hate that those kids are being taught that it is okay to cheat, but you know what bothers me the most about the whole thing? It bothers me that the team we were playing was a team made up of players from our church and I am assuming the coach was probably one of those player’s dads. It also bothers me that not one of those parents from the other team stood up and said, “Hey, this isn’t right. Coach, they need to play by the rules.” Unbelievable.

that’s too unfortunate….just goes to show, it makes no difference if you are part of a catholic school/church group or not…people with questionable judgement are EVERYWHERE!
