Hope’s Boy: A Memoir by Andrew Bridge

This started out as one of the most depressing books I have ever read. It is a memoir, so everything in it really happened and it was so depressing because everything that was happening in the book was taking place when the author was about the same age as Liam and Colm are right now. I just kept thinking about how awful it would be if my boys were going through what he went through. The book is about the author’s life before foster care, how he ended up in foster care and his life making his way through foster care where he remained until he was legally an adult. It was a heart wrenching book, but an important story to tell…there are thousands of more like him out there who don’t get to tell their story.
