We checked out Baker’s Dozen and Pounce from the toy store this week. I don’t really get Baker’s Dozen, but Colm really likes Pounce. Pounce isn’t very exciting if you only have two people playing, but add in a third or fourth player and it gets a bit more challenging. Sean picked up Thing-a-ma-bots for the boys at the grocery store a couple of weekends ago and we are just now getting around to playing it. The boys really like it. I am not good at this game. It requires being able to remember details…I am not good at that. I do like it, however, because it is quick. It is a good after dinner, but before bedtime game.

We received this Lenten calendar from our church. It is a way to observe Lent and take care of the earth all at the same time.

I have read many, many, many Jodi Picoult books and they always suck me in. She has a certain way of writing, however, that gets to be a little too formulaic. (Is that a word?) Anyways, as much as this book drew me in, I did have a few problems with it. There was one part at the beginning of the book that was completely unbelievable. I won’t spoil the book for any potential readers, but let’s just say that the whole premise of the book is based on an event that happens while they are on vacation that is not believable, but because she’s such a good writer I still got roped in. The ending…I am not going to tell you the ending, but I will tell you I was more than disappointed…and even after all of my bashing here, I could not put the book down.

(Project 365-2/27/10) Colm got hurt on this ride. He fell off but held on and got dragged. He is fine, but he got quite a scrape on his side/stomach.

Big Old Tree

We FINALLY found Liam a violin teacher. Liam was very excited to get back in the saddle. When we went to go get his new violin they laid out several instruments for him to play in his own little room so he could play them and decide which one he wanted. I am not sure he chose his violin based on which one had the best sound. I think he picked the one that he liked the looks of the best. 🙂

The day after he got his violin his teacher had a workshop for all of her students. She invited a Suzuki teacher from San Francisco in to work with her students for the morning. We haven’t actually had a lesson with his teacher yet, but she was nice enough to let us come to the workshop. He starts with his new teacher this week.

The boys had Crazy Hair Day at school so I went and got some little packets of blue, green and red hair gel. Liam wanted stripes and Colm wanted spikes. The results…

Colm has his basketball medal in this picture. His basketball coach from KS was VERY nice and sent it to us. Colm had someone ask him if it was his gold medal and he just BEAMED!!! (Project 365-2/26/10)

I don’t think my cooking has set off smoke detectors since I lived in an apartment in Phoenix many moons ago. I did manage to set them off this week, however, setting the boys and Sean into a temporary panic. I didn’t burn anything, it’s just that in apartments if there is any smoke at all the darn things go off. At least we know they work.
