Officially a blue belt

So, I was put in charge of picking our book this past month and after careful research and after reading reviews on both Amazon and the library, I chose this book. Don’t read it. It is awful. Everyone in my book club, including me, found it to be crass and offensive. I don’t know how this man has managed to have five plus books published, but he has. Hopefully our next pick will be better.

Sean rented this movie from Netflix. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, but I am telling you it is good. Action, a little drama, a little romance, a few twists here and there…so good.

images-1Again, this was a book that Colm randomly picked off the shelf at the library. It is a really cute story about a grandma who loses her glasses while dancing in the kitchen which leads to her befriending a lion and catching a burglar. Grandma Jo is a very lovable character and Colm thinks her antics with the lion are funny. Again, cute story.

After spending a lazy morning watching movies with the fireplace turned on, it was time to go have some fun at Great-Grandma’s house. The boys had a blast as Grandad drove them around the farm on the tractor and the four-wheeler.

We came home, had lunch and hung out for a while and then went to the big Griffin Thanksgiving.

Cousins, cousins, cousins…I couldn’t get a couple of the younger ones to stay in the picture, so I just had to make due with the ones that would stay still. The teenagers aren’t in the picture either…they were probably too busy texting to come have their picture taken. 🙂

It wouldn’t be a post about Thanksgiving without a picture of people filling up their plates. 🙂

I really liked this book. The author (whose main source of income is as a writer for Esquire magazine) tries to follow the Bible (mostly the old testament) to the letter for a year. He ends up learning about his own faith as well as others as well. In that year he travels to the Holy Land, grows a beard, attaches tassels to his clothes, eats things he normally wouldn’t, has to buy a chair that only he can sit in, learns how to be thankful, changes his diet, has his clothes checked to make sure their kosher and the list goes on and on. Highly recommend it no matter what your religious background.
