Well, I know what Colm would do…he would eat his own vomit. Yep, you read that right. Let me explain. Colm had not gotten a chance to ride in Sean’s new car and he WANTED to-badly! So, tonight during dinner Colm decided he wasn’t going to eat his chicken or his corn or his mashed potatoes and gravy. So, Sean said we could go get custard after dinner if Colm ate his dinner. No deal. Sean then threw in that we would take his new car to get the custard-Colm was ready to eat! So, he started with the chicken which I liberally doused in ketchup. He ate the first bite no problem. He ate the second bite and began to gag uncontrollably until he threw up in his plate. I was laughing so hard (but trying my best to hide it). I told him it was okay to stop, but he was determined to ride in Sean’s car. I guess he was afraid he wasn’t going to win the grand prize if he gave up so he continued to eat. (It reminded me of a weird eating competition on Survivor.) It was gross, but I couldn’t really see too much through the tears. Then I talked him into some corn, but he would only eat the pieces that weren’t “broken”. That was our night at the dinner table.
Mom, I think the cat’s throwing up.
Where?
On your new rug.
Incidentally, that is also where the dog decided to eat all those donuts. Why? Why must they destroy my new rug. It is so pretty…and I’d like to keep it that way!
Our dog ate 12 donuts tonight while we were at violin. They were meant to be for Colm’s birthday celebration at school. I have a feeling those donuts are not going to sit in his tummy too well.
I love my grandma. She is 90 years old and was raised a Baptist through and through. I was talking with her today and she was telling me that she had watched a lot of the coverage of the Pope’s visit to the U.S. She said that she felt like she learned a lot by watching it and that she also learned that some things she had grown up believing about Catholics weren’t true. She also added that she hoped that one day the churches would unify more. I love that someone who has lived such a long life and has seen the world go through so many changes could also learn to be more accepting of a group of people that, as a child, she was not allowed to speak to. If a person who has believed something for 90 years can open her heart and mind to a different way of thinking, then I think everyone else could be a little more tolerant as well.
I think it is finally safe to put the winter clothes away. I have had the bins sitting in our closet forever, waiting to switch everything out. I know I have probably just jinxed myself and it will snow 12 inches next week, but I am ready to move on.
It turned out to be a beautiful day and we spent it at the Lakeside Nature Center, celebrating Earth Day and the birthday of a turtle that lives there.
A play put on by the Stone Lion Puppets about the ecosystems that are in our own backyards.
This is a very touchy museum. The children are encouraged to touch just about everything.
They were supposed to be making cards for the turtle, but since their Papa’s birthday party is tomorrow, they decided to make cards for him instead. 🙂
Looking at owl feathers, insects wings, rabbit hair and some other things up close.
I had some of Erin’s yummy spinach black bean lasagna for lunch…then we went to Costco. It was super duper sample day today. We started out with some chocolate cake, then we had BBQ brisket, grape and strawberry soda, chocolate squares, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate milk, breakfast sausage, hot dogs, canned peaches, cranberry-blood orange jelly on bread, dried pears and apples, and I am sure there is more, I just can’t remember it all because my belly is full and I am getting sleepy.
I like to make sure everyone gets a laugh now and then, so here it goes…
The other day Liam went in to the bathroom, but came back out rather quickly. I asked him if he went and he said that his poop wouldn’t come out because it was like a steel trap.
A few days later, both of the boys had to pee at the same time. Instead of finding different bathrooms, they realized that they could both use the same toilet at the same time. Their reactions to their new discovery fit their personalities to a tee.
Colm: That was TOTALLY cool!
Liam: That was gross!
