Time for the company trip to Worlds of Fun and fun it was. It was a beautiful day and the boys had a great time. We spent 99% of our time in Camp Snoopy, but Colm also indicated that he wants to bungee jump and ride one of the BIG coasters. Luckily, he is too small and will be too small for a number of years to come.

Enjoying the last treat of the day…some Dippin’Dots and Icees.

Highly recommended…we went to storytime at the American Jazz Museum. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! It was not your regular storytime. It lasted about an hour, but went by lickety split. The kids danced, sang, wiggled and grooved. It was awesome. There was storytelling in there, too, and it was very participative and jazzy, of course. There was a man who played the bass, a drummer and two singers/storytellers. Unfortunately, today was the last time for storytime until it starts again in the fall. We then went and toured the museum which is also connected the the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

(Note: You’re not supposed to take pics inside the museum, but I didn’t know that until I had already snapped a few. Oops!)

We were getting hungry, so we stopped by the Crayola Cafe on the way home to eat some tasty treats.

Here are two new recipes we have eaten recently that were especially yummers…

Greek Chicken Pasta
3 cups farfalle pasta, uncooked
2 cups baby spinach leaves
3/4 cup provolone, crumbled
1/4 cup feta, crumbled
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
3/4 chickpeas, drained
1/2 cup Greek Vinaigrette Dressing
1 baked chicken breast, shredded and cooled

Cook pasta, drain and put in a large bowl. Add remaining ingredients and mix.

Can be served immediately or you can put it in the frig and serve it cold.

Bruschetta Chicken
1/4 cup Sun-Dried Tomato Vinaigrette Dressing
2 chicken breasts, baked
1 tomato chopped
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
1/4 cup fresh chopped basil or 1 tsp. dried basil

Bake chicken breasts. Mix everything else up together in a medium bowl. When chicken is done pour mixture in bowl over the top of the chicken and bake about 5 minutes longer. Serve with pasta or sauted zucchini or both. 🙂

Liam has a loose tooth! Not only does he have a loose tooth, but the permanent tooth has already pushed through behind it. I called the dentist to make sure this was okay. She said not to worry. Just keep wiggling the baby tooth and the permanent one will slide right into place. Liam wanted to know today if the tooth fairy brings real money or fake money. 🙂

Colm LOVES this book and I will say it is pretty cute! It’s about a trashman and his truck and all of the places they stop to pick up the trash. They stop at the pizza parlor, the school, the doctor’s office, etc. and then they have to take it all to the dump once the truck is full. The part Colm likes the most is that at the end of each page it asks if the truck is full. For most of the pages the answer is no, until you get to the end of course. He loves looking for the word “no” and then the word “yes” once the truck is full. The ending of the book is also cute because now that the trashman has cleaned up Trashy Town he has to go home and take a bath. Colm would give it two thumbs up!

Wow! What an interesting and well-written book that looks into the lives of the working poor…the people who clean your house, who serve you your dinner at your favorite restaurant, who take care of your loved ones in nursing homes, or work at your local Wal-Mart. The author takes on various jobs such as these and lives off of her income. She has to pay rent, buy food, etc. Oftentimes, she has to take on two jobs to make it and she isn’t having to pay for childcare either and she also has a car which gives her an advantage over many in her situation. She also lives in some pretty shady places, but that is all that she can afford on what she is making. Very easy read and well worth it.

A couple of nights ago I came upstairs from the basement and smelled something foul. I accused both Sean and the dog of fouling up the air. I then smelled it again the next day. What is that smell? Is it me? Nope, it was not coming from anyBODY. This morning Liam found the source of the odor. SOMEONE, I am assuming it was Liam based on the cup it was in, had put a glass of soymilk in this little compartment that is in our china cabinet. Who knows how long it had been there, but it was STINKY! I am washing it in the dishwasher right now, but I might have to just throw it away. I don’t know if it can be saved.

We have a roof with shingles now. We also have a garage floor and a porch and they have started to do the electricity. The boys got to go in it for the first time today, too. They got to see where their rooms are going to be which they were very excited about. 🙂

My step-mom just called from Colorado to let us know that one of my younger brothers just won a MAJOR wrestling tournament and he is now on his way to Bejing, China this summer for some sort of Olympic thing. I am not sure of all of the details, but I know it is a BIG DEAL. I am so proud! Both of my younger brothers are so smart (and my older one, too!) and they have worked so hard to get where they are right now, both in school and in their wrestling. Congrats!

We went to Paradise Park today and we FINALLY got to go outside. This is the third time we have been there, but the first time it has been warm enough to actually go outside. As usual, the boys had a blast.
