The games they played today were much easier than the games they played yesterday and thank goodness. Holy cow! Those teams from yesterday wiped up the field with Liam’s team. It was not pretty. We even managed to win one today which was very good for morale.

Liam is playing in a soccer tourney this weekend. They had two games today. The first one was in the morning so it wasn’t too hot, but they deserved a shaved ice after the game they played in the afternoon. They worked hard and it was hot out.

Look at this cutie. Liam’s friend just got a new puppy. He is so soft and cute and he smells so good. Sounds like they got a new baby doesn’t it? Well, this sweet cute puppy also whines all night long and has to be let out every two hours to potty. Still sounding like a new baby? Of course it’s the kids and the dad who wanted the puppy and guess who’s up all night with this little sweet bundle of joy…yep, you guessed. The mom. Good things he’s so darn cute.

The neighbor kids were outside playing this morning and I told them they could use our sidewalk chalk if they wanted. This is what I came home to:

(It’s a school bus if you couldn’t tell.)

Colm turned his summer reading log into the library today. He earned a free book and a ticket to a Trailblazer’s game.

We finally got around to spending the money the boys raised at their popsicle stand. They were able to buy 47 food items for the local food pantry. They got everything from clam chowder to mayo to cereal bars to mustard and much, much more.

(Project 365-8/14/11)

The last bridge

We biked over 13 miles and crossed six of Portland’s bridges today. I was so proud of the boys for persevering. There were some difficult spots, but they did it and they were so excited when they finally crossed the finish line.

Liam’s baseball coach has gotten the kids together a couple of times this summer to play wiffleball. It’s very informal and siblings can play too. The boys love it!

These two girls were my helpers this week at VBS. They were so awesome! I couldn’t have hand-picked better helpers than these two. They sorted, prepped, cleaned up, helped the younger kids and so much more.

Each day during VBS the kids bring a specific item for the food pantry. So far they have brought jelly, juice, hearty soups and canned tuna/salmon/chicken. Tomorrow’s food is cereal. There is also a contest going on between the groups of kids to see which group can bring in the most food (measured in pounds). They also all got to go and visit the food pantry to see where needy families go when they come to get food. Such a great learning experience.
