Christie and I hung out in the morning and also took a walk along the canal with her dog, Luke.

Then we sprung Dana from the conference and headed to the Space Needle.

Then to a park for some scenic pictures….

Then I ended up needing to head back to Portland early because Sean got stung by a wasp in the neck and they had to shoot him up with Cortizone because the poison from the stinger was making both the inside and outside of his neck swell making it difficult for him to breathe. After three hours in the ER to make sure he was going to be okay, they sent him home.
When an awesome opportunity presents itself and it’s only three hours away, I am going to figure out a way to make it happen. So I dropped off the boys at school this morning and headed north to Seattle. My dear friend, Christie, lives there and my other dear friend, Dana, was going to be in Seattle for a conference. How could I pass up hanging out with two of my bestest high school friends in a super cool town? Plus, Dana lives in Pennsylvania, so for three of us to be together was quite a feat. Oh, and Dana didn’t know I was coming because I made up a super lame excuse as to why I couldn’t make it so we could surprise her.

Me and the troll under the bridge.
We picked up Dana from her conference and had dinner plans later on, but since he had some time to spare we ran by High Five Pies to pick up dessert. I will admit I bought two.
Hey, they’re good!

Then dinner at a great Ethiopian restaurant with Dana and Christie and also Brandon, another person I went to high school with that I haven’t seen since 1991 and his “lady friend”, Allison.

I had never ever heard of a Leprechaun Trap until we moved here and they are a big deal around here. Last year the boys came home from school going on and on about how they needed to make a leprechaun trap and each managed to fashion one out of things we had at our apartment. This year Colm had to make one for homework as well as make a list of the materials needed for making it, writing a paragraph about how it was made and drawing a diagram. Here is the finished project and no he didn’t catch any leprechauns this year.

My computer has been on its last leg for the last month or so. It all began one day when it started making this horrible clicking sound and the screen did something I have never seen it do. I showed Sean and he was alarmed…not a good sign. We backed up everything immediately after he tinkered with it for a good long while just to get to the point where I could back everything up. Well, it seemed find for quite a few weeks and then it started making that clicking sound again. Computer-geek hubby decided it was time to get a new computer…I didn’t argue.

He has Duke going all the way. 🙂
Well, basketball season is over so that must mean it’s time for baseball season. We have two boys playing baseball this year, so we headed to Dick’s to get all of the stuff. They both needed cleats (yes, I bought them soccer cleats for baseball so that we could use them for soccer, too), socks, a baseball, Colm needed a new mitt and they both needed a few unmentionables. I was so proud…I had about six coupons and they let me use ALL of them. We saved a bundle. Then we get home and we get an e-mail saying that we need to purchase them each a batting helmet. The teams used to have a few that everyone shared, but I guess there were some lice problems, sooo…. Then we find out that we also need to get them a long-sleeved shirt to go under the uniform that they will provide. Dang! So I had to go back to the store without ANY coupons and buy all of that stuff. We have one baseball bag, but now that they are both playing, I think they each need their own bag, too. I am sure I will be back within the next week or so to get that, too.
When we were trying to figure out how basketball sign-ups work in this town we figured out that we could choose from the Y or Upward. I was going to sign up for the Y because that’s what we did in KS, plus I knew Colm would be playing with his classmates and that the games would probably be at his school or another school very close by. Sounds good, right? Well, then we heard about Upward. You will see below why we chose Upward. How can you pass this up? They do it at the beginning of every game…every boy’s dream come true…and a whole lotta fun. 🙂
