Colm was a rock star at his testing tonight. It amazes me how much better he has gotten at TKD since we first started. I love to see him do so well at it and when I see his eyes fill up with pride at a job well done…it’s awesome.

Self-defense…I hope that if they ever (God forbid) really do need to defend themselves that they will remember their TKD training

Motivation! Colm earned a trophy this testing period for his behavior at home which included things like making his bed, setting the table and doing things the first time he was asked.

Sean’s family lost its matriarch this week. She was not just a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a great listener, she loved to bake and she knew how to love each of her family members for who they were-each and every one of us. One thing that I know I always loved about her was that she made me feel a part of the family from day one.

Within minutes of us telling the boys that their great-grandma had died, Liam knew exactly what he wanted to do.

The boys have Tae Kwon Do testing this week. They have worked and worked for weeks now, but they also have to do the written work.

The boys’ violin teacher has a violin workshop every year where she invites another Suzuki teacher in to work with her students for a weekend. Last year the teacher was from San Francisco, this year the teacher was from Seattle and she was AMAZING!!!! Each child had a masterclass with her and three other students where they worked on one piece of music together. Then she taught a whole group class for books 1-3 and then another class for kids in books 4 and up. She also gave a parent talk (which was awesome). While we were doing that, the seven and unders were in a dalcroze/eurythmics class while the eight and ups were in a fiddle class.

I am not sure which plot is ours since they aren’t marked yet. There are several community gardens around town, but this one is new and isn’t quite ready. I think the gardening season officially begins in March, which is going to be here before you know it.

Playing with the Air Hog Liam got for his birthday. It is strictly an outside only toy.

I ended up having to help Colm do this project. The stickers we got to do this were IMPOSSIBLE to get off their little sheet. Oh my goodness! If I wouldn’t have helped him, he would have been up until midnight trying to pry those darn stickers off.

Sean and the boys played Monopoly this evening while I cooked dinner.

This was our first outing to a children’s theater since moving here. Robin Hood was such a fun play…a perfect balance of humor, entertainment and fight scenes.
