Ninja Kangaroo…don’t ask…

(Project 365-10/26/10)
He likes to paint his face…can you tell? Trouble is, it doesn’t come off quite as easily as it goes on. I think I scrubbed a layer of skin off of his face that night. It still didn’t all come off. He went to school the next morning looking a little more colorful than normal.

Parent-teacher conferences were today. Both of the boys’ teachers had great things to say about each of them and also talked about areas that they could both improve in as well. I am very proud of both of them! They are both working very hard and making lots of progress. This is a photo I snapped outside of Colm’s classroom while I was waiting for my turn to talk with his teacher.

I got this book from a friend of mine. She said it’s really good, but a little racy. I think that’s a very good description. I thought I pretty much knew the story of Anne Boleyn, but this story takes you behind the scenes of how she became queen…who she stepped on on her way up the “royal ladder” and what extremes she might have gone through to give the king a son.

There are six wooden pillars in the church like the ones you see in this picture. The fourth graders from our church (there are maybe 20 of them) went onto the property before the land was cleared and got to pick which six trees from the site would become those pillars.

(Project 365-10/24/10)
Everyone who went to the dedication today received one of these. They are made from the trees that were harvested at the site where the church now stands.
Those book fair people are so savvy. They get the kids in there and give them a list they can fill out and then they bring it home to show you what they MUST have. MUST. Oh, and the prices are on there too, just in case you need to know how much the books cost. Just what we need, more books. (Yes, I took the boys to the book fair today and they each got a book. I DO love the book fair.)

I went in the middle of the day and stood in line for an hour to get tickets so Liam could get one of his Rick Riordan books signed. He absolutely LOVES Rick Riordan’s books and I was so excited for him. I just can’t imagine how over the moon I would have been at his age if I could have met Laura Ingalls Wilder or Judy Blume or Beverly Clearly. Ugh, can you imagine!!!???? Anyways, I got the tickets and we came back at the allotted hour. I was dreading having to wait for forever even with the tickets, but it turned out that we walked in, waited three minutes and they called our number. There were over 2,000 people in the store and it was so LOUD in there and it all happened so fast that I didn’t get a picture of the boys with Rick Riordan. Here’s Liam with this signed book though.
