I got this for Christmas two years ago and I decided it was time to put it together. It seems to take forever for it to get dark on the 4th of July, so I had the boys help me put it together to help pass the time. I think we did a pretty good job. Now I just need to get some wood so we can actually use it.

I took the boys to see The Karate Kid today. Liam said it was the best movie he has ever seen. It was a good movie. They took a lot of things from the original and tweaked them a bit, so the movie was familiar, but not the same. Colm learned the word “ass” from this movie. Jayden Smith says it a few times in the movie and Jackie Chan reprimands him. Colm wanted to know what it meant and I told him it’s a word we don’t use. Colm assumed I meant it’s a Chinese word since it’s a word we don’t use and the movie takes place in China. I just left it at that. 🙂

Colm had tennis camp this week. It was very low-key, only two days for 45 minutes each day. He wants to play more, so we will have to look into that. I am glad he enjoyed it though, I had a lot of fun watching him run all over the court.

Learning what all of those white lines mean…
His first day of camp he was hitting the tennis ball like a baseball…the further he hit it the happier he was. They played a game today where he got a point for every ball he hit in the green…that helped him pull things in a bit. He was happy and sweaty after camp today, so that’s all that matters, he will figure the rest out if and when he plays again.
This isn’t a very good video of him, but my camera batteries died as I was filming this.

The boys went to the dentist today for a cleaning and they left with another appointment for two extractions-each! If bad teeth are genetic, then our boys are in a whole lotta trouble. Sean and I both had braces and I know I got to know both my dentist and my orthodontist very well. I am only now beginning to understand the amount of money my parents spent on my teeth. (Thanks!) Colm’s bite is so bad that I think the dentist thought I was lying when I told him that Colm never sucked his thumb or took a pacifier. Anyways, they are both getting two teeth pulled in a couple of weeks. Colm seems to think it might be something he needs to be worried about, but Liam assured him that it’s no big deal. They are just going to “help” the teeth come out. I was amazed at how sure of himself he was since he has ZERO experience in this department. We’ll see what he thinks about extractions AFTER he has actually had one.
We went to the beach today with my fabulous friend Christie and her furry friend, Luke.

They found this hole that someone had dug and played in it forever. They splashed in it, filled it with more sand, dug in it and generally just made a huge mess and had a great time.

Seeing how far they can fling the sand

After a change of clothes and a picnic lunch, we stopped at our favorite little ice cream/donut/coffee shop for a treat.
