The boys had their Vacation Bible School program tonight. They both did a great job and they both definitely enjoyed the cookies and lemonade afterwards.

I tutored my first students of the summer today. I love tutoring during the summer. It is much more relaxed than tutoring during the school year and I can usually do what I want with the kids as opposed to helping them with their homework all the time. Another great thing that came out of tutoring today is that a mom saw me tutoring and asked if I would tutor her child as well. Sure, add another one to the mix…the more the merrier. 🙂
Time to check out and head home. We stopped by Fantastic Caverns in Springfield on the way home. I took some pictures, but they don’t really capture the feeling of being in a cave.
The caverns have a really neat history. A man stumbled across these caves right before the Civil War after his dog chased a squirrel into them. They were first officially explored by twelve women shortly after the Civil War and there was even a speak easy in the caverns during Prohibition.
This was our last full day. We played shuffleboard in the morning and then the boys went up to the barn and rode horses. We spent the afternoon at Silver Dollar City.

They offer trail rides for the whole family, too, but you have to be six years old to do that…maybe next year.
The boys and the monkeys they won. They also each won a whale and a frog. One can never have too many stuffed animals. 🙂

We started off the day with the kids’ fishing derby. Liam got second place with a 13 oz. bass. We then went to Silver Dollar City where it was pretty chilly which worked out in our favor because there were very few people there. We also froze our tushies off riding all of the water rides though. We ended the day with a wagon ride and a campfire complete with marshmallow roasting, sarsaparilla and a singing cowboy.

He was VERY proud of his catch, but was not at all interested in touching it.
We decided to stay at the resort all day and enjoy some of their pools, the lazy river and some of the other fun things they had to offer.
Colm and Sean canoed while Liam and I ventured out in the paddleboat.

Blue raspberry snow cones by the pool…the margarita ones were good, too. 🙂

Shuffleboard…Colm’s new passion…he couldn’t get enough of it.

We had a GREAT trip to southern Missouri. We stayed at Big Cedar Lodge on Table Rock Lake, went to Silver Dollar City and to Fantastic Caverns. Big Cedar Lodge was so peaceful and so much fun and just awesome in so many ways. It was so beautiful, the food was great, there were fantastic activities for the kids, etc., etc., etc.

Do you recognize this cute little toddler dancing to his Elmo guitar??? This is Liam right before his second birthday. He had received that Elmo guitar for Christmas a month earlier and obviously loved it VERY much! 🙂
