Still Life with Chickens: Starting Over in a House by the Sea by Catherine Goldhammer

I went to the library the other day and found five or six random books and this was one of them.  I really liked this book.  It is a memoir and it is about how the author made it through the first year after her divorce with the help of some chickens (live ones) her daughter talked her into getting.  It is not a men-are-pigs or a life-is-miserable-I cry-all-of-the-time divorce book.  There is very little mention of tears or sadness.  It is mostly about her carrying on and how she did it.  It is a quick read, too.

“Still Life with Elephant” is a similar book I read about a year or so ago and was very entertaining and a quick read. It’s by Judy Renee Singer.
