Liam Breaking His Board (turn up your volume)

Liam makes this look so easy. We were all so proud of him. Since he was a green belt for this testing he also had to spar, something he hasn’t ever had to do in a testing before. He did great though. We know he earned his purple belt, but he’ll find out his score on Wednesday which is also when he will actually receive his purple belt.

Blackbelt Demo Team…they are AWESOME!!!! They “performed” a little in between testings and I think everyone had their mouths hanging open. So COOL and something for all of the kids working on their black belts to aspire to….they can see what they are working for.

Sparring…aka kicking the crap out of each other, but it’s okay because everyone has their pads on

Once a month we drop the boys off at our neighbors so we can go out by ourselves.* Last night we went to a cozy French restaurant, Aixois, located in the UMKC/Brookside area.

Delicious mussels in a scrumptious sauce…the wine was a perfect match.

Crepe filled with a sweet cream/cheese and fresh berries topped with a light berry sauce. Complete with a cup of decaf.

*We watch their boys once a month, too, so they can go out. It’s a great setup. We get to go out without having to pay a sitter and the boys get to play with their friends. 🙂

Serve It Up Sunday

Usually I don’t have any trouble coming up with stuff to make for dinner, but I struggled this week. Ugh!!! I looked and looked on-line, but wasn’t very inspired. I did find one new recipe though.

Sunday-Tilapia, Rice, Fruit
Monday-Eggs, Breakfast Sausage, Toast
Tuesday-Hamburgers, Potato Salad, Fruit (busy night, may eat out-we’ll see)
Wednesday-Pesto Pasta
Thursday-Chicken Fiesta
Friday-Carribean Chicken Salad (never tried this one before)
Saturday-Irish Fest!!!

Sometime this week the boys and I are going to make Cranberry Cream Cheese Wheels which are basically just cranberry sauce, cream cheese and Pillsbury crescent rolls. Bake and eat. Yummers!!!

Before you read this knock on whatever piece of wood is closest to you…

Colm had a shaky start to kindergarten. The details are a little shady, but I think he basically was having a hard time keeping his hands and feet to himself which is something he struggled with last year as well. (If you know Colm at all, this piece of information is not shocking to you.) The past two or three days, however, his teacher has given me a thumbs up at the end of the day and he has even earned some stickers on his sticker chart and a few Smarties. Praise God!!! If things continued the way they were I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through his kindergarten year let alone elementary school and beyond.

Saturday-Tacos
Sunday-Italian Sausage with tomatoes, onions and peppers
Monday-Stir-Fry
Tuesday-Pasta and Meatballs
Wednesday-Mexican Salad
Thursday-Tilapia, Rice, Green Beans
Friday-Kitchen is Closed
Saturday-Date Night

This is the latest pick for our neighborhood book club. I have finished this one and I have a pile of books sitting on my desk waiting to be read…which one will I read next? Hmmmmm…..

Since it was thundering, lightening and raining on the morning of the first day of school, we didn’t get the nice outside pictures we normally get, but these turned out nicely considering. Serious boys and silly boys.

We dropped Colm off and got him all settled in and then took Liam to his class. I then went back to Colm’s class to peek in on him and he was settling in nicely with some friends from the neighborhood/soccer/T-ball.

At the end of the day Colm had all sorts of things in his backpack that he HAD to show me right then and there; he couldn’t even wait to walk back to the car. Liam was all smiles and reported he had a great day. Liam loves that in second grade they don’t have to sit with their classes at lunch, they can sit with their friends from other classes. Colm likes free choice which is essentially centers.

Sunday-Enchiladas
Monday-BLT Rigatoni
Tuesday-Migas
Wednesday-Sonic Night
Thursday-Mexican Salad
Friday-Salmon, Green Beans, Bread and Butter
Saturday-Kitchen is Closed

VERY good movie! Give it a few minutes. It is kind of slow at first, but it is a beautiful movie and well worth watching.
